Prayer of St. Francis

On the same line of thought as the previous post, this morning I happened upon an old prayer that I love dearly. I actually heard it for the first time in high school at All State choir when the prayer was penned to music. I wish you could hear its soaring melodies and beautiful harmonies...

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is discord, harmony.
Where there is error, truth.
Where there is wrong, the spirit of forgiveness.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console.
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
